What song do you dance to?

Well, that would be The Chicken Dance song!

The song was written in the 1950s by Werner Thomas, although it didn’t make it to the United States until sometime in the 1970s.

It was originally written with the Swedish name Der Ententanz – meaning “The Duck Dance,” and was written as a drinking song for Oktoberfest.

The song’s name was later changed to Vogeltanz – “The Bird Dance.”

The Chicken Dance became its name once it reached the U.S., and the dance to go along with it was born!
