Any number that is multiplied by one equals that number. Likewise any number divided by one also equals that number.\n
The number one can only be divided by itself and is the only number that cannot be divided by any other.\n
This means that the number one is not a prime number, although it has been widely considered as a prime number in the past.\n
A prime number is defined as “a positive integer with exactly two positive divisors: 1 and itself”.\n
So by this logic one is not a prime number as its only divisor is itself.\n
One is an identity element in multiplication.\n

For example, 8 multiplied by 1 equals the same as 1 multiplied by 8 which equals 8.\n
Because of this mathematicians refer to one as the multiplicative identity (the reflexive identity of multiplication).\n
There are many different terms for things featuring only one of something.\n
